TEHRAN (FIBA Asia U18 Championship for Men): India over powered Hong Kong 110-64 to avoid the fourth place in Group A on Saturday.
India, who lost to Japan and China earlier in the group, will be drawn into Group III in the classification cluster of the Quarterfinal round. Hong Kong will take their place in Group IV.
Groups III and IV form the classification for 9-16 places.
“Don’t forget we came into this tournament without any practice games,” said India coach Aleksandar Bucan.
“And we played two very good teams in our first two games,” the Serbian added.
“Considering that background, I must say this win is satisfying.”
India took the game into their control early in the third quarter and continued to dominate the scoring before sealing a 46-point win.
“We will use the rest of the games too as a schooling experience,” Bucan added.
Shooting guard Vishesh Bhriguvanshi led India’s scoring with a game-high 25 points.
Chow Kin Wan topped the scoring for Hong Kong.
